HBO Thursday - Stuber

Pretty good movie.  That's it.  That's my review.  Simple and effective.
I want to do a quick shout out to Ali, thanks for having a quick chat with me on Twitter!
Lets do the Details and Numbers:

Title: Stuber
Starring: Dave Bautista, Kamail Nanjiani
Director: Michael Dowse

Release Date: July 12, 2019
Released with: Crawl

Budget: $16 mil.
Opening Weekend: $8.2 mil.
Domestic: $22.3 mil.
Worldwide: $32.3 mil.

By the numbers this movie is a success.  Made a profit from its budget.  Perhaps if I went to the theaters and spent about $50 (tickets, snacks and drinks) I would have been disappointed in this movie.  But this movie is meant for a streaming service.

It may be considered a buddy cop movie, despite Kumail being an Uber driver.  Bautista is a dedicated detective to hunting down a criminal who shot his partner.  He's also temporarily blind from having Lasik surgery.  He's a very surly person which bashes against Kumail's nature.  The titular 'Stu' is played by Kumail as a guy who is in love with a woman but is afraid to tell her his true feelings.  He picks up Dave Bautista and is commanded to drive him around as he hunts for this criminal.

Lots of action, a small plot twist, good comedy and solid characters.  I usually have a soft spot for Bautista as I am a wrestling fan.  Any former wrestler who can find success and thus become a good ambassador to that form of entertainment, I will champion.

I was surprised to see this as a summer movie, but it was released on a weak weekend with 'Crawl' being its competition.  By the way, Crawl is another solid movie which I happily plopped down $30 to see in the theaters with my wife.

Best scene in this movie is the department store fight.  Check out 'Stuber' which is now streaming on HBO.

Final Score: 7/10

No Friday viewing today as I had some prior engagements.  For Starz Saturday - Zombieland: Double Tap.

Starz Saturday - Zombieland: Double Tap

A sequel worth watching.  I watched 'Zombieland: Double Tap' and I think you should too.  Lets do the Details and Numbers: Title: Zombieland: Double Tap Starring: Woody Harrelson, Jesse Eisenberg, Emma Stone Director: Ruben Fleischer Release Date: October 18, 2019 Released With: Maleficient: Mistress of Evil, Jojo Rabbit Budget: $42 mil. Opening Weekend: $26.8 mil. Domestic: $73.1 mil. Worldwide: $122.8 mil. Some sequels strive to be better than its predecessor.  Most come up empty and are seen as a cash grab for what they are.  'Zombieland: Double Tap' is a solid movie.  Great for wasting an afternoon on a rainy day or good horror/comedy with a partner for a good ol' night in on the couch.  By solid I mean that the movie does not veer off too much from the first movie.  There are some slight changes to its universe such as varying degrees of zombies and the character themselves have began to settle into roles of a family.  Each of...
