I apologize for not posting yesterday. I was distracted with everyday life and could not make some time to post my riveting reviewing of 'Rambo: Last Blood'. Lets get to the Details and Numbers:

Title: Rambo: Last Blood
Starring: Sylvester Stallone, Paz Vega
Director: Adrian Grunberg
Release Date: Sept. 20, 2019
Released With: Ad Astra, Downton Abbey, Bloodline
Budget:$50 mil.
Opening Weekend: $18.8 mil.
Domestic: $44.8 mil.
Worldwide: $91.4 mil.
This movie is part horror movie and part whatever else you want to call this. The run time might say 89 minutes, but the movie is certainly done at an hour-20. Not a whole lot of substance, just some gory deaths and a thin story. Which could be good, could be bad, depending on your preference. The last half-hour is a horror show.
Story is simple, Rambo lives on a farm with his niece and her grandmother? Its been a few years since I've watched the Rambo series, but I have no memory of a mention of a sister and a niece; but here we are. Anywho, also on this farm, John has built tunnels as if he was planning to fend off this small farmhouse from a siege.
So his niece, Gabrielle, goes to seek out her father in Mexico, traveling with a nefarious companion named Gizelle. The reunion does not go well, so Gizelle takes Gabby to a bar. Gabby is drugged and is sold to become a prostitute.
Rambo goes save her, he is beaten up and is carried off by Paz Vega. There's a bit of a montage, but Rambo recovers and saves Gabby. Then the evil-doers come back for revenge.
In my 'Despicable Me' post I commented how the simplicity works for certain film. However, simplicity does not work for this film. The first hour is boring as you await for the bad guys to get their justice from Rambo. To Stallone's credit, he does well portraying a character whom has severe PTSD and rage issues. As a fan of horror films, even I found the deaths unnecessarily gory.
Perhaps that last statement, might just be my own tastes growing. A younger me would have loved all the gore. But just like hot sauce, as young person, hot sauce is all about growing your tolerance, so you up the ante each time. In my mid-thirties, I enjoy hot sauce, but only as a nice accent to my eggs. Gore is fine, but in acceptable doses.
So I decided to do final scores just to show that this blog can grow as well.
Final Score: 3 out of 10
Rambo: Last Blood is now streaming on Amazon Prime.
For HBO Thursday - Stuber
